Build a Sensory Room in a General School
What is the aim of this campaign?
Children with special needs require extra care and facilities even if they attend general school. However, often they would require specialised facilities which provides extra support for their learning process. A sensory room is a special room designed to develop a person’s senses, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. It can be used as a therapy for children with limited communication skills. It helps to improve balance, movement and spatial orientation. Sensory rooms can also help develop users’ visual processing abilities as well as their fine and gross motor skills, facilitating day-to-day living.
While sensory rooms are greatly beneficial for children with special needs, most general schools in the UK do not have such a facility. As such, Disability Care Trust UK would like to take the initiative of setting up at least one sensory room in a general school every six months.
Who will benefit from your donation?
Donations given to this campaign will mainly benefit children with special needs that attend school. We hope to build sensory rooms in schools both in the UK and Bangladesh
What will we do?
Under this campaign, we aim to:
- Build a Sensory Room as per requirement of the chosen school.
- Obtain a commitment from the school for continuation of the facility
